Mike LaFleur predicted to depart Rams for coveted NFC head coaching job image

Mike LaFleur has served as the Los Angeles Rams' offensive coordinator under head coach Sean McVay for three seasons, helping the unit become one of the most dynamic offensive attacks in the league.

LaFleur is one of the most promising offensive minds in the sport and will eventually become a head coach. FanSided's Nick Villano believes the time for LaFleur to receive a head coaching gig is this offseason.

Villano believes LaFleur will become the next head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, who are looking for a replacement for Raheem Morris after they fired him on Sunday.

"The Falcons will go after the offensive coach who will get creative with the gameplan. Mike LaFleur has been doing that with the Los Angeles Rams, especially this season when he likely helped Matthew Stafford win MVP. If he can get Michael Penix to even close to the heights we’ve seen from Stafford, he’ll be in Atlanta for a long time."

Atlanta should hire an offense-minded coach, as the team boasts too many dynamic playmakers on offense to not go all-in on the unit. Running back Bijan Robinson, wide receiver Drake London. And tight end Kyle Pitts, if he's re-signed, are explosive offensive weapons who could power one of the best offenses in football.

Though the Falcons' quarterback situation is uncertain due to Michael Penix Jr's injury and Kirk Cousins' contract, Atlanta should still be able to find a viable starter until Penix can return from ACL surgery.

That said, LaFleur would be a perfect fit in Atlanta. The Rams' offensive coordinator would get the most out of the Falcons' playmakers and elevate the quarterback play, no matter who's under center.

It's time for Atlanta to head in a new direction and get away from hiring defensive coaches who have a high floor but a low ceiling. LaFleur's ceiling is off the charts, as he could be a transformational coach for the Falcons who revives the franchise into perennial NFC South winners and contenders in the conference.
