The name came out of nowhere, a blast from the past.

During the Thursday Night Football broadcast on Amazon Prime Video, color commentator Kirk Herbstreit referenced Sam Bradford. Except he didn't mean to.

Herbstreit was watching Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold take the field, and he was remarking that he has a reputation for not being able to win the big game.

It was "Sam Bradford," though, that Herbstreit said couldn't win the key games, before correcting himself a short while later.

Bradford played for the Rams, of course, who were the opponents of Darnold on Thursday night. That might've factored in to Herbstreit's brief brain fart.

If you're wondering, Bradford has been retired since 2018.

He actually took part in the U.S. Amateur four-ball tournament earlier this year.

Whatever magic Herbstreit put into the universe with his bizarre reverse jinx, though, worked.

Darnold led the Seahawks back from 16 points down to force overtime, then won it in OT with a touchdown and 2-point conversion. Maybe he has Bradford to thank for that.
