The Los Angeles Rams are set for a crucial battle with the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16 and may not have one of their best offensive players on the field, wide receiver Davante Adams.
Adams aggravated his hamstring issue in Week 15 and did not practice at all this past week before drawing the doubtful tag on Wednesday.
Not having Adams would be a significant blow for the Rams' offense, especially near the goal line, where the veteran wideout has thrived all season long.
Here's what we know about Adams' chances of suiting up on Thursday night.
Is Davante Adams playing tonight?
While Adams has not officially been ruled out yet, the doubtful tag means he is highly unlikely to play, as players rarely overcome that designation to suit up.
"Not listed as out. They wanted to kind of leave the light on for him, see maybe somehow, some way if he could maybe get in a red zone package or something," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said. "It's not looking great, but at least they want to give him a chance. So, don't expect him to play tonight, but the hope is, next game, if there's enough time to recover, we could see Davante out there."
We will get final confirmation on Adams' playing status an hour and a half before the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff on Thursday. The Rams could tip their hand on Adams before then based on the roster moves they make during the day, also.
Davante Adams fantasy advice
If Adams ends up playing, he has to be in lineups, even with the threat of a limited role on offense.
Adams enters Week 16 ranked as WR6 overall, which makes him an every-week play. Rapoport alluded to Adams having a red-zone-only role if he plays and that's where he has scored a huge chunk of his fantasy points this season via touchdowns.
If Adams doesn't play, you're not starting any of the Rams' backup wide receivers, as they simply haven't been productive enough to trust.
That leaves star wideout Puka Nacua as the only viable starting option among Rams wide receivers if Adams sits.
