Will Omarion Hampton play in Week 14? Latest injury updates on Chargers RB image

All eyes are on Los Angeles Chargers running back Omarion Hampton this week.

Hampton has been sidelined since he sustained an ankle injury in Week 5 that led to him being placed on injured reserve.

Hampton was designated to return from injured reserve last week coming out of the bye and has since turned in four limited practices going into Friday of this week.

Here's what we know about Hampton's chances of suiting up in Week 14 against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.

Will Omarion Hampton play in Week 14?

Answer: More likely than not

Hampton's status remains up in the air, but he certainly seems to be trending in the right direction.

CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported that Hampton is "likely" to play in Week 14.

"It’s currently viewed as likely that Chargers starting running back Omarion Hampton, who has missed the last seven games with an ankle injury, will be able return to action and play next Monday when the team faces the Eagles," he wrote.

Hampton has practiced on a limited basis four days in a row, which is a good sign. But he was also still sporting a non-contract jersey as of Thursday as he continues ramping up for a potential return in Week 14.

"Omarion Hampton was out there in the yellow jersey again," ESPN's Kris Rhim reported on Thursday.

When asked about Hampton's status earlier in the week, head coach Jim Harbaugh noted that the rookie is "on track and looking good" and he added that Hampton is "ramping up" and the team would make a decision later in the week.

Another thing helping Hampton's cause to play this week is the fact that he has an extra day to prepare with the Chargers playing on Monday night.

We may not get a definitive answer on Hampton until Sunday or Monday.

When taking everything into account, we definitely wouldn't say Hampton is a lock to play, but we would say he's got a better than 50/50 shot.
