Oronde Gadsden injury update gives Chargers TE positive outlook for Week 11 image

The Los Angeles Chargers had an injury scare with budding star tight end Oronde Gadsden during the Week 10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Gadsden suffered what was initially diagnosed as a knee injury that led to his early exit from the contest. Thankfully, it appears he has avoided a serious injury and, in fact, his outlook is positive.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's just a quadriceps bruise for Gadsden and he is considered day-to-day.

"Chargers TE Oronde Gadsden’s MRI today revealed a quad bruise that now will have him, per a source, 'day to day,'" Schefter reported on Monday.

This is obviously fantastic news, as it keeps Gadsden in the mix to suit up in Week 11 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. At the very least, he isn't likely to miss more than one game if he does have to miss time.

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh addressed the injury when asked by reporters and said Gadsden "banged knees" but he did not sound concerned.

"Working through some soreness," he said, per The Athletic's Daniel Popper. "We'll know more on Wednesday."

Of course, Wednesday will be the day the Chargers release their first injury report of the week.

Gadsden has emerged as one of quarterback Justin Herbert's best weapons. The fifth-round pick had a quiet start to the season but has come on very strong since Week 6.

Over the previous four games before his early exit in Week 10, Gadsden had posted 377 receiving yards and two touchdowns. His best game came in Week 7, when he ripped off 164 yards and a score.

He currently ranks fourth on the team in receiving yards and has quickly gained ground on the three wide receivers in front of him, a list that includes Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston.

If Gadsden can't go in Week 11, Tyler Conklin and Will Dissly will likely get more run.
