Is Omarion Hampton playing in Week 14 vs. Eagles? Final status for Chargers rookie RB image

The Los Angeles Chargers will be looking for a second consecutive win when they host the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.

The biggest storyline for the Chargers heading into the contest has been the health of star quarterback Justin Herbert, who fractured a bone in his left hand against the Las Vegas Raiders last week. The injury required surgery. Herbert is officially listed as questionable for the contest, but he’s expected to play.

Another storyline for the Chargers that has flown under the radar a bit as a result of Herbert’s injury is the return of rookie running back Omarion Hampton, who has been sidelined since Week 5 due to a fractured ankle. After missing L.A.’s last seven games, Hampton is expected to play against Philadelphia.

On the season, Hampton has rushed for 314 yards and two touchdowns. In Hampton's absence, running back Kimani Vidal has shouldered the bulk of the backfield workload and emerged as a legitimate weapon for L.A. In the process. In his second season, Vidal has rushed for 543 yards and three TDs.

Los Angeles will have a potent two-man rushing attack upon Hampton's return, which will be beneficial against a vulnerable Eagles' defensive line. Eagles star tackle Jalen Carter will be sidelined for the game in L.A. After undergoing shoulder procedures. The Eagles will also be without another key contributor on the other side of the line, as right tackle Lane Johnson has also been ruled out of the game.

The Monday night matchup will be the first meeting between Philadelphia and L.A. In over four years. The teams last played on Nov. 7, 2021 with the Chargers pulling out a 27-24 victory over the Eagles.
