The Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles will square off on Monday night in a contest that could see the return of rookie running back Omarion Hampton.

Hampton suffered an ankle injury all the way back in Week 5 that was later diagnosed as a fracture, which led to his placement on injured reserve.

Hampton returned to practice in Week 13 but was not activated from the list. Then, in Week 14, Hampton took a huge step forward in his return from the injury by logging two full practices before drawing the questionable tag.

Now, there is one step left for Hampton to play on Monday night, and that's being activated from injured reserve.

Here's the latest on that.

Is Omarion Hampton playing tonight?

Yes, Hampton is expected to play on Monday night.

According to multiple reports, the Chargers will activate Hampton from injured reserve ahead of Monday's game and he will indeed suit up for it.

Omarion Hampton DFS start or sit advice

The big concern for Hampton in his return is that he might not get a full workload after such a long absence.

Los Angeles also has Kimani Vidal, who has likely earned himself a role in the Chargers' backfield no matter what, which will siphon off work from Hampton. Vidal also allows the Chargers to ease Hampton back in for Week 14.

Could Hampton handle a normal workload?

Sure, it's definitely a possibility, but it's not something we would bet. Players who have the kind of months-long absence Hampton has had don't usually play a full complement of snaps in their first game back.

This is an unfortunate situation because Hampton draws a juicy matchup against an Eagles defense ceding the eighth-most fantasy points per game to running backs. Philly also won't have defensive lineman Jalen Carter.

All that said, because of the workload uncertainty, Hampton is a true wild card on Monday night. We would suggest avoiding that and going with another running back, like Vidal or Eagles rusher Saquon Barkley.
