Is Omarion Hampton coming back after the bye? Latest injury update on Chargers RB image

The Los Angeles Chargers haven't had the services of running back Omarion Hampton for several weeks now due to injury.

After losing fellow back Najee Harris for the rest of the year, the Chargers also saw Hampton go down with an ankle injury that landed him on injured reserve.

Seeing as how Hampton has been on the list since Week 6, he has been eligible to return since Week 10, but the Chargers have yet to designate him to return from injured reserve.

Here's what we know about his chances of returning next week.

Will Omarion Hampton return after the bye?

We cannot say for sure that Hampton will be back in Week 13, but there are a few positive signs that he will be.

First, head coach Jim Harbaugh said he expected Hampton's 21-day window to be opened after the Week 12 bye, although he did not confirm that it would actually happen in Week 13 for sure.

"Jim Harbaugh said he does not expect Omarion Hampton’s activation window to be opened until after the Week 12 bye," The Athletic's Daniel Popper relayed on Nov. 3.

We also know that Hampton has been working on the side at practices lately, and he is no longer wearing a walking boot, two indications he's close to getting back on the field.

We could get our next update on Monday, when Harbaugh meets with the media out of the bye, but if not we'll likely know by Wednesday if Hampton will be designated to return.

Of course, just because he's designated to return doesn't mean he'll play in Week 13, as Hampton will then have to be activated to the 53-man roster.

We'd get a good idea of how possible that is by his level of participation at practice during the week.

All in all, we would say there's a good chance Hampton will be back in Week 13.
