The Los Angeles Chargers suffered their first defeat of the 2025 season on Sunday, losing a hard-fought battle against the New York Giants, 21-18.
The Chargers trailed throughout but had their chances to get back into it at the end. Still, this is a team that, at 3-1 on the season, has some serious worries. The Chargers came into this game with some serious injury concerns and they left with more.
Looking back at this one, here are the players who stood out either positively or negatively.
Los Angeles Chargers Week 3 winners and losers
Winner: Quentin Johnston, WR
It seems improbable that Quentin Johnston has been one of the best players on the Chargers' roster this year, but he has. He added eight receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown in this game and he continues to be the most dynamic option in the passing game.
Loser: Justin Herbert, QB
This was not Justin Herbert's finest hour. Though he had played at an MVP level through the first three games, he was below average on Sunday. He completed only 23 of his 41 pass attempts and the two interceptions he threw loomed large in the defeat.
Winner: Omarion Hampton, RB
This was the breakout game that fans have been waiting for from the first-round pick. It was well known that Omarion Hampton would take on a bigger role with Najee Harris out for the season, but Hampton was the only running back to carry the ball in this game.
He responded with 128 yards rushing, a large chunk of which came on a 54-yard touchdown run. He also added 37 yards on five receptions.
Loser: Ladd McConkey, WR
For as good as Ladd McConkey was as a rookie, he's been that bad in year two. He was targeted six times in this game but caught just one pass for 11 yards. On the season, he has just 16 receptions.
Winner: Tuli Tuipolotu, Edge
Tuli Tuipoluto was like a one-man wrecking crew in this game, sacking Jaxson Dart four times. He was also second on the team with 10 tackles. If the Chargers had pulled off a late victory in this game, Tuipolotu would have been the MVP.
Loser: Chargers Offensive Line
The Chargers are going to have some serious concerns going forward as it relates to the offensive line. They came into this game already missing Rashawn Slater and Mekhi Becton and then watched Joe Alt get carted off the field in the first quarter. Initial reports suggest that it's a high ankle sprain for the second-year tackle, which could keep him out for a bit.

The Chargers are going to have to look at ways to address these issues, as the offensive line was designed to be the strength of this team.
