All eyes are on Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert ahead of the Week 14 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Herbert sustained a broken bone in his non-throwing hand last week against the Las Vegas Raiders that required surgery and left his status up in the air for this week.
With the Chargers turning in their first official practice of the week on Thursday ahead of Monday night's game, Herbert showed a sign that he will indeed play.
According to The Athletic's Daniel Popper, Herbert was at practice and was throwing the football during the session.
"Justin Herbert is back at practice and throwing," Popper reported (video here).
This amounts to an upgrade for Herbert, who did not take part in practice on Wednesday. The Chargers didn't have to release an injury report, though.
While we'll have to wait until later in the day for the Chargers' injury report, it would appear as of right now that Herbert will at least be a limited participant.
Even if he's listed as a non-participant, the fact that Herbert was throwing on Thursday is still a great sign.
When asked about his status on Wednesday, Herbert said he is preparing as though he's going to play.
"The plan is to prepare as if I'm going to play and see how the next couple of days goes," Herbert said, according to ESPN's Kris Rhim. "Do everything I can to be out there for the team and the guys out there."
The Chargers will drop two more injury reports this week and can take the decision on Herbert all the way up until Monday night, so there's still plenty of time.
