The Los Angeles Chargers got back on track with a win on Sunday over the Las Vegas Raiders. But at what cost?

Justin Herbert is injured, and although it's just his left hand, and he can play through it, it could cause trouble.

Herbert had to leave the game in the first quarter when a hit from Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn injured Herbert's left hand.

ESPN reported Monday that it's a break in Herbert's left hand that will require surgery.

Sunday's game provided a sneak peak of what it could look like the rest of the way. The Chargers didn't run any plays under center when Herbert returned.

"When Herbert returned, he wore a thick glove on his left hand and didn't take any snaps under center for the remainder of the game," ESPN's Kris Rhim wrote on Monday. "If Herbert's injury is significant, it could mean that the Chargers don't operate from under center for the remainder of the season, limiting the playbook for offensive coordinator Greg Roman."

Herbert, who has always possessed immense talent, seemed to take steps forward in multiple areas of this game early in the season.

The Chargers encountered a mid-season rough patch, but they've still got a chance at accomplishing many things the rest of the way.

Everything will get that much tougher if Herbert isn't healthy, though.

So all eyes and ears will be on the Chargers this week as Herbert comes back from surgery on his left hand.
