The Los Angeles Chargers (3-1) will host the Washington Commanders (2-2) in a game where each team is looking to get back on the winning track. Each team has dealt with some difficult injuries in this early season but the Commanders will get quarterback Jayden Daniels back for this one

That should make a huge difference in the gameplans for each team. Washington will be making its first trip to Los Angeles to face the Chargers since December of 2017.

These teams will be meeting for just the 13th time in their histories, which have experienced several changes. Of course, the Chargers spent most of their time in San Diego and the Commanders have had many different names. In fact, the Chargers have never played them since they have been known as the Commanders.

The last meeting between these two franchises came in September 2021, a 20-16 Chargers victory. Then, the Commanders were known as the Washington Football Team. The last time Washington beat the Chargers — in November 2013 — they were known as the Redskins.

Washington won the first six meetings between these teams between the years of 1973-1998. Since then, the Chargers have won five of the last six. The only loss was that 2013 game, which went into overtime. In that one, Washington running back Darrel Young plunged into the end zone for a third time to give Washingto the walk-off victory.

All of that has led to Washington holding a 7-5 edge in the all-time series.

The Chargers have not lost to a Washington team at home since September 1986. They don't plan for that to change on Sunday.
