The Los Angeles Chargers haven't had the services of running back Omarion Hampton since Week 5 due to an ankle injury.
Los Angeles placed Hampton on injured reserve in Week 6, which forced him to miss a minimum of four games.
Considering the fact that Hampton has now missed four games after the Chargers completed their Week 9 game against the Tennessee Titans, he's eligible to return from injured reserve this week.
However, not only will that not happen, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh stated on Monday that the team will likely keep Hampton out through the Week 12 bye, which means he won't be back until Week 13, at the earliest.
"Jim Harbaugh said he does not expect Omarion Hampton’s activation window to be opened until after the Week 12 bye," The Athletic's Daniel Popper reported.
This is obviously terrible news for the Chargers, who will now have to navigate at least two more games without their starting running back.
Kimani Vidal has handled the lead-back duties in Hampton's absence but has had two good games and two bad games.
This development with Hampton only underscores the Chargers' need to add a running back at the trade deadline, which the team is reportedly trying to do.
As of this writing, the Chargers have less than 24 hours to make a move, with the deadline falling on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. ET.
