Chargers' Khalil Mack reveals feelings about retirement after season-ending loss image

Khalil Mack isn't going to rush this.

He's a historically great pass rusher, but he's a more deliberate decision-maker.

The Los Angeles Chargers' defensive star was part of their season-ending loss on Sunday in New England. And he's at the point in his career where retirement is an openly spoken about topic.

But he's not ready to make a choice yet.

Mack will “make a decision based on how I’m feeling and how my family is feeling, the vibes," he told reporters.

“You don’t want to make a decision based on how you feel in the present moment, especially after a tough loss," Mack added. "It’s about taking time and taking that step back. I feel like it’s the same in that sense, taking a step back and trying to really not put too much emotion behind the decision to do whatever it is I’m going to do.”

Mack will turn 35 years old in February.

He has put together an incredible career for a player who was once an unheralded recruit at the University of Buffalo.

Mack has made nine Pro Bowls and was the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year.

He has 113 career sacks in 179 games. Mack is the active leader in forced fumbles (36).

He has spent the last four seasons with the Chargers, which was preceded by four seasons with the Bears, which was preceded by four seasons with the Raiders.

This season, Mack played 12 games and had 5.5 sacks with four forced fumbles.

He can still get the job done, if he wants to keep playing.
