The Las Vegas Raiders made their second pick of the 2025 NFL draft on Friday night, which came at No. 58 overall after a few trades. Despite the fact that quarterback Shedeur Sanders was still on the board in that spot, the Raiders decided to draft wideout Jack Bech out of TCU.
This is now the second time the Raiders passed on Sanders, who continues to slide in the draft. What's more shocking is the Cleveland Browns passed on him twice at the top of the second round and then the New Orleans Saints picked Louisville's Tyler Shough after that.
So, why aren't the Raiders drafting Sanders, even with the team being heavily connected to him for quite some time?
Why did Raiders pass on Shedeur Sanders?
There's a few reasons behind the Raiders passing on Sanders.
The easiest answer is that they simply don't view him as worthy of a pick in this spot, no matter how much owners Mark Davis and Tom Brady have praised him in the past.
Another contributing factor for the Raiders not springing for Sanders so far is the fact that they already have a starter in place in Geno Smith, so there's no need to reach for Sanders.
