TL;DR

  • The Las Vegas Raiders lost to the Jaguars 30-29 in overtime, bringing their record to 2-9.
  • Minority owner Tom Brady is seeking solutions, citing quarterback identity as a major weakness.
  • Offensive coordinator Chip Kelly was fired, with quarterbacks coach Greg Olson taking over.
  • Pete Carroll's future with the Raiders is uncertain due to instability and personnel changes.

The Las Vegas Raiders maintained their poor showing in the 2025 NFL season, suffering another defeat against the Jaguars with a final score of 30-29 in overtime. This occurred on November 2, after which the team had a welcome bye week. The Raiders, now with a 2-9 record, will resume play this week facing the LA Chargers, who hold a 7-4 record.

With subpar performance and yet another unsuccessful season, Raiders' minority owner Tom Brady is seeking solutions. As reported by NFL insider Dianna Russini, the ex-quarterback, who secured six Super Bowl victories, stated that

One of Las Vegas' biggest weaknesses has been finding an identity at quarterback, a position that Brady knows plenty about. Veteran Geno Smith has done an admirable job with the offense, but he isn't a long-term solution. And, the team just fired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. That's likely going to lead to more changes in Sin City.

"Quarterbacks coach Greg Olson has taken over as the offensive coordinator in Las Vegas after the team fired Chip Kelly on Sunday."Russini wrote. "I’m told minority owner Tom Brady was a big advocate of bringing in Kelly to run the offense, and he has shared with some people close to him his disappointment in the team’s overall performance. His frustrations go beyond the offense, too."

Las Vegas is set for some alterations.

Despite how unusual it might sound, the renowned former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll might face pressure in the desert during this off-season. Although his track record as a Super Bowl-winning leader is remarkable, and he's undoubtedly destined for The Hall of Fame, his time with the team has been notably unstable during his first year.

The veteran coach appears disoriented in unfamiliar surroundings, especially after dismissing his offensive coordinator and special teams coach (Tom McMahon) within a short span. This situation has fueled rumors that he might be leaving may not return in 2026, whether by his own decision or the team's.

Before the Raiders can be considered contenders, numerous questions require resolution. For a team that hasn't secured a playoff victory in 22 years, it appears Brady and his associates are undertaking a significant rebuilding effort for The Raiders.
