Raiders predicted to hire hot-shot 3-time coordinator as next head coach image

The Las Vegas Raiders have cast a wide net in their head-coaching search and one of their candidates is Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

As of Jan. 16, the Raiders had completed interviews with eight candidates, with Kubiak being among them.

With the Raiders' clear interest in Kubiak for their head-coaching vacancy, Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson predicts he will be the team's next head coach.

"The 38-year-old Kubiak is young and can be paired with the Raiders’ quarterback pick in this draft — whoever that will be — and I think can potentially be paired with Brian Flores as his defensive coordinator CEO, which is similar to how things are set up in Seattle with Mike Macdonald overseeing the team and defense and Kubiak running the offense," Robinson wrote of his Kubiak prediction.

A 3-time offensive coordinator, Kubiak had one-year stints with the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints before eventually landing in Seattle.

While that's a troubling trend on the surface, timing is really to blame for him not lasting more than one year in Minnesota or New Orleans.

In both spots, Kubiak came in during the final year of Mike Zimmer's and Dennis Allen's tenures, as both were fired the following year.

Kubiak rebounded nicely in Seattle in 2025, with the hot-shot offensive coordinator overseeing an elite offense that ranked third in points per game, 10th in rushing and eighth in passing and total yards en route to a 14-3 record.

Making that more impressive is the fact that the Seahawks had a quarterback in Sam Darnold who was in his first year with the team and in a new offense.

As a result, Kubiak has been one of the most coveted candidates in this coaching cycle and would be a significant get for the Raiders.

Las Vegas should be attractive to Kubiak, as not only does the team have the No. 1 pick that will likely land Fernando Mendoza if he declares, but the Raiders also have a ton of cap space to work with.

When laying it all out, it's very clear that a Kubiak-Raiders pairing makes all the sense in the world.
