The Cleveland Browns appear to be set for another long season in 2025.

The Browns are entering Week 5 with a 1-4 record, and the team recently went ahead and announced that rookie Dillon Gabriel will take over as the starting quarterback.

Even if Gabriel provides a spark, it's unlikely the team climbs out of this hole and competes in the tough AFC North.

As a result, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Browns sell off some of their talented pieces before the trade deadline. One of the players that would assuredly be wanted by several contenders is cornerback Greg Newsome II.

Newsome has had an up-and-down career, which began as a starter before being demoted during the 2024 season. The corner has picked his play back up in 2025, though, and has a 63.6 Pro Football Focus grade so far this year.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report recently identified the Las Vegas Raiders and Green Bay Packers as logical landing spots for Newsome.

Knox figures a conditional 2026 fourth-round pick would be enough to get a deal done for the corner. Regarding a potential Newsome deal, Knox offered the following:

Yes, Newsome has started all four games this season for a defense that is the one unit on which the Browns can hang their hat. However, having a fantastic defense means little when the offense and special teams are struggling as badly as Cleveland's.

The reality is the Browns need to find difference-makers for their offense. Moving Newsome, who is an impending 2026 free agent, might help them do that, albeit in the 2026 draft.

As Knox mentioned, the Browns' defense has been the one positive so far, but it means nothing when the rest of the team is so bad.

Newsome also is set to enter free agency after the season, so the Browns would be wise to get what they can for the corner.

The Raiders definitely make sense as a landing spot. Through four weeks, the Raiders are 23rd in passing yards allowed per game and 22nd in points allowed per game. Kyu Blu Kelly has struggled this year, and Eric Stokes is currently battling an injury, so corner depth would be welcomed.

In Vegas, Newsome would be another option on the outside, and trading for the corner would give the team the first chance to re-sign him if he impresses.

However, the Raiders have the same record as the Browns, so they may not be in a position to buy at the deadline.
