Las Vegas Raiders defensive back Lonnie Johnson has been well-traveled during his career, with Johnson playing in NFL games with four different teams over six seasons.
Johnson hoped to find a long-term home in Las Vegas because he was tired of moving around all the time. In fact, he even went as far as to say he wants to retire as a Raider.
But his chances of doing so just took a big hit, with ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reporting that Johnson suffered a broken fibula at practice on Saturday. An MRI will determine if there is any additional damage.
Depending on the severity, that's going to keep Johnson out at least multiple months, which could lead to his placement on injured reserve, which would end his season unless he gets an injury settlement.
Despite the bad news, Johnson is remaining very positive.
"(I'm a) soldier, chin up, chest out," Johnson wrote. "God got me."
"Still gonna retire a Raider," Johnson said in another post.
Johnson was battling for a reserve role with the team and was well-liked by coaches. Assuming he gets placed on IR and an injury settlement follows, we could definitely see Johnson ending up back in Las Vegas down the road.
