Teams interested in former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel have one less form of competition.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, McDaniel has withdrawn his name from the Cleveland Browns' head-coach search and will instead focus on other opportunities.

McDaniel has interviewed for several head coach jobs, but the only teams that have interviewed him for their vacancies that still have an opening are the Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens and Browns, who are now out of the running.

McDaniel has already interviewed for the offensive coordinator job of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he was scheduled to speak with the Los Angeles Chargers on Tuesday about their play-caller vacancy.

Along with those four teams, the Philadelphia Eagles reportedly had McDaniel at the top of their list of candidates, along with former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll. However, no reports have said McDaniel will interview in Philly.

McDaniel taking himself out of the running for the Browns job is great news for all interested parties, and especially for teams that want him as offensive coordinator.

The feeling is that McDaniel is likely to take a desirable head-coach job over being an offensive coordinator.

The bad news for the Bucs, Chargers and Eagles is that the Raiders and Ravens both have attractive jobs. Las Vegas has the No. 1 overall pick and a ton of cap space, and the Ravens offer Lamar Jackson and a chance to compete right away.

That said, the Chargers, Bucs and Eagles jobs are also attractive, as all three offenses can be elite with the right direction, and all three offer a fantastic springboard for McDaniel to get back to a head-coach job in 2027.
