The Las Vegas Raiders brought shame to their city, with the local media ripping the franchise a new one following a 24-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

In a triumph buoyed by Myles Garrett’s three-sack, two-forced fumble on defense, the Browns were able to snap a three-game losing streak. On the Raiders’ side of the equation, the silver and black lost their fifth in a row.

The Las Vegas Sun’s Case Keefer was disgusted by the nature of the loss, Shedeur Sanders’ first start for Cleveland, and the first win for a debuting Browns quarterback since 1999, calling it a new “rock bottom” for the Raiders.

“The state of the Las Vegas Raiders has never been lower as they fell to 2-9 on the season with their second listless performance in six days at their home venue,” Keefer prefaced before saying, “Las Vegas had arguably already reached rock bottom after a blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football, but is undeniably there now.

“The Browns, forced to start a fifth-round drafted rookie quarterback in Shedeur Sanders, were one of the only teams left in the NFL that the Raiders would be favored to beat.

“But Cleveland never trailed and didn’t allow Las Vegas within single digits at any point after the first quarter.”

Pete Carroll didn’t have much to say after the loss, calling out the offense for not making plays when given the chance.

“We’re pretty disappointed about this one, but if you don’t score, you can’t win, and we didn’t score…we had opportunities to make big plays and we couldn’t hit them,” Carroll said to the postgame media scrum.

Coach-speak, if there ever was any. In some ways, it can be read as a Geno Smith callout. There were six three-and-outs, with one of them resulting in a field goal because the defense put them in scoring position.

Ultimately, though, Carroll knows this team doesn’t excel anywhere on the field. It’s his first year, though, so he figures to receive grace from Mark Davis and Tom Brady. That won’t last long if it bleeds into next season, though. Carroll may officially be on hot seat watch after losing to a Sanders-led Browns.
