Shedrick Jackson is fighting for a spot on the Las Vegas Raiders roster, and the young receiver has had an impressive preseason thus far.
Through two preseason games, Jackson has hauled in seven receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown. The former undrafted free agent is building a strong roster case, and it's not surprising given his rich family history.
Jackson is related to former Raiders running back Bo Jackson, who played his entire four-year NFL career with the franchise. Shedrick is Bo's great-nephew.
During a recent interview, Jackson spoke about how his great uncle has helped him throughout the years, and also revealed his feelings on being with the same franchise he played with from 1987 to 1990.
"He’s always there to help me," Shedrick Jackson said of his great uncle Bo via Taylor Rocha on X. "He's someone who gives me words of encouragement and keeps me on the right path. It’s pretty cool to walk around the same building he’s been in, around the same people."
Bo Jackson is often regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time, as he remains the only athlete ever to be selected to an NFL Pro Bowl and MLB All-Star Game. The former Los Angeles Raiders seventh-round pick played just four seasons in the NFL before heading to the MLB for an eight-year career in baseball.
As he continues to push for a spot on the Raiders' 53-man roster, Shedrick Jackson will be reminded of the legacy his great-uncle left within the organization.
However, the 25-year-old is working to carve out his own legacy and make a name for himself. He's done that so far in the preseason, as Jackson has been one of the most productive players in the preseason for Las Vegas in 2025.
