Hall of Famer believes Raiders' Maxx Crosby is 'trying to get out' of Las Vegas image

It's no secret that the Las Vegas Raiders have had an abysmal 2025 season.

After losing to the lowly New York Giants in Week 17, the team is now the odds-on favorite to secure the top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. To make matters worse, it seems like the team's best player is unhappy with his situation.

Maxx Crosby has been an elite edge-rusher and the face of the team for years now. Ahead of Week 17, it was revealed that the Raiders wanted to shut Crosby down for the final two games of the season.

Crosby reportedly "vehemently disagreed" with this decision, and wanted to see the season out. The team ruled Crosby out in Week 17 anyway, and the defender took to social media to post videos of himself working out.

On Monday, NFL Hall of Famer Dwight Freeney appeared on the "Up & Adams" show with Kay Adams, and Crosby was brought up. Freeney went on to speculate that Crosby may soon force his way out of Las Vegas.

“It’s all bad… he might be thinking about trying to get out of there. He’s tired of losing… This may be the straw that broke the camel’s back," Freeney explained.

It's understandable why Crosby would be upset. The Raiders have only played in one playoff game since Crosby entered the league in 2020. However, Crosby did decide to re-sign with the Raiders on a massive extension ahead of the 2025 season.

The Raiders claimed that Crosby needed to sit out the rest of the season with a knee injury, but Crosby denies that claim. Freeney said that Crosby has "been playing through it the entire season," though, and that the Raiders "don't really want to win."

If Crosby does want out, it will be interesting to see what the Raiders decide to do. The team could save just under $28 million by trading him prior to June 1, while incurring just over $10 million in dead money.

Trading Crosby would definitely net the team a huge haul, which would be nice considering this is one of the least talented rosters in the league.
