Now-former Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly has already addressed his firing.

The Raiders confirmed on Sunday night that Kelly has been let go through a statement from head coach Pete Carroll.

"I spoke with Chip Kelly earlier this evening and informed him of his release as offensive coordinator of the Raiders," Carroll wrote. "I would like to thank Chip for his service and wish him all the best in the future."

Not long after that, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reached out to Kelly, who said the following about his firing:

"I am grateful for the opportunity with the Raiders, bottom line in this league you have to win," Kelly said. "I really loved those players, I’m a huge, HUGE Geno Smith fan, that was one of the best parts of this experience for me, working with Geno and those guys every day. But hey, we gotta win. I get it.”

Kelly's firing comes just hours after the Raiders lost their ninth game of the season, and just 11 games into his tenure as the offensive coordinator.

Under his watch, the Raiders sported one of the worst offenses in the league and the unit was dysfunctional, at best.

Even with a supposed upgrade at quarterback in Geno Smith, a superstar playmaker in Brock Bowers and one of the most hyped up running back prospects in recent memory, Ashton Jeanty, Las Vegas' offense looked as bad as it did in 2024.

Kelly was lured away from Ohio State, where he served in the same role. Las Vegas actually made Kelly the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the NFL upon hiring him, with his contract totaling $6 million annually.

Kelly is the second coach to get canned by Las Vegas this season, as special teams coordinator Tom McMahon was cut loose earlier this month.

The Raiders have not yet announced who will take over as the interim offensive coordinator, but that should be coming in the next day or so.
