Brock Bowers offers injury, status update ahead of Raiders' Week 2 game image

The status of Las Vegas Raiders superstar tight end Brock Bowers is one to monitor ahead of the Monday night game against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2.

Bowers tweaked his knee in the second half of the Week 1 game against the New England Patriots, although he did feel good enough to return to the game but the Raiders decided to hold him out.

After the game, Bowers revealed that he's fine and doesn't expect to have a long-term issue with the injury. The Raiders are certainly hoping that's the case considering how crucial he is to the team's offense.

On Thursday, Bowers and head coach Pete Carroll both talked about the injury and what their expectations are for his status in Week 2 against Los Angeles.

“Feeling a little better. Just working on it," Bowers said of his injury, per Jesse Merrick of the Silver & Black Sports Network.

When asked if he'd play this week, Bowers said he's "not sure" but is "hoping" he'll suit up.

“They don’t think they can’t play," Carroll said of Bowers and linebacker Elandon Roberts, according to Levi Edwards of Raiders.com.

The good news for Bowers and the Raiders is that he has an extra day to get right before kickoff with the game being on Monday night.

If Bowers can't go, backup tight end Michael Mayer will get more run. The Raiders only have one more tight end on the roster behind Bowers and Mayer in veteran Ian Thomas, so they might have to call up either Albert Okwuegbunam or Carter Runyon from the practice squad if Bowers doesn't suit up.
