NFL football has become a part of Christmas Day tradition for many people. The league has played on the annual holiday sporadically over the years, but it has held at least one game on Christmas every year since 2020.
There was one game played on Christmas in 2020 and two played in 2021. The total number of games played on Christmas jumped up to three in 2022 and 2023 and then dipped back down to two in 2024. This year, the number is back to three.
There are three NFL games on Christmas Day in 2025
Here’s a look at the three games that will be played on Christmas Day in 2025 along with start times and viewing information:
- Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders, 1:00 p.m. ET (Netflix)
- Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings, 4:30 p.m. ET (Netflix)
- Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs, 8:15 p.m. ET (Prime Video)
The first two games on Christmas will air on Netflix, while the third contest will be available via Prime Video. All three of the games could potentially have playoff implications on the line, which would obviously be exciting for fans.
This will be the third consecutive year that the Chiefs play on Christmas Day. They lost to the Las Vegas Raiders, 20-14, in 2023 and bested the Pittsburgh Steelers 29-10 in '24. The Chiefs obviously like playing on the holiday, as they put in a request with the league to play every year on Christmas. The Chiefs have an all-time record of 3-2 on the holiday.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles, the team that bested the Chiefs in the Super Bowl last season, have the NFL's best Christmas Day record at 3-0.
