Is Travis Kelce retiring? What we know about Chiefs TE's retirement plans in Week 18 image

The Kansas City Chiefs will play their final game of the season on Sunday.

It's a rare Week 18 finale for the Chiefs, taking on the Las Vegas Raiders on the road, already aware that they've been eliminated from the playoffs, with Patrick Mahomes out with a torn ACL and his buddy Travis Kelce just finishing out the string on a season that some figured would end in retirement.

But at this point, nothing is for certain.

All that's sure is that Kelce is slated to be active and play a full workload on Sunday. Chris Oladokun will be his quarterback.

The Chiefs don't have much to accomplish, but maybe they try to get Kelce involved early and often, just in case.

Is Travis Kelce retiring?

No one knows what Kelce is doing, at least publicly.

Kelce is 36 years old and could retire after this season, get married to Taylor Swift and move into the next stage of his life.

He also could have a sour taste in his mouth from a nightmare season and want to take one more chance at running it back, hoping that Mahomes gets back from his injury early in the 2026 season to put together a better campaign.

It's at least a bit telling that Kelce has played heavily down the stretch of this season. If he was definitively coming back next season, you could've seen the Chiefs sitting him to ensure no serious injuries to him after Mahomes already got hurt.

But Kelce is out there, which suggests at least somewhat of a belief that this could be it.
