Travis Kelce provides update on Chiefs future amid retirement uncertainty image

Will Travis Kelce stay, or will he go?

That is one of the biggest questions for the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason as the superstar tight end continues to mull his future in the NFL.

Kelce has flirted with retirement before and the belief is it's a real possibility for him once again this year.

Kelce briefly addressed his future on the "New Heights" podcast and said that if he can get his body right, he would return for another season "in a heartbeat."

“If my body can heal up and rest up and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18-, 20-, 21-week run, I think I would do it in a heartbeat," he stated.

Of course, we know that doing that gets harder and harder the older a player gets, and Kelce is no doubt up there in years after turning 36 in October. Another season would mean Kelce is playing at the age of 37, which isn't easy to do.

Despite his advanced age, Kelce showed he still has plenty left in the gas tank in 2025 and he remains a key part of the Chiefs' offense and Patrick Mahomes' most trusted target in the passing game.

Losing Kelce would be a tough blow for Kansas City. Filling his shoes will be impossible to do, and not just from an on-field standpoint, but because of his leadership, also.

If Kelce does decide to retire, he's going to have a lot to do.

On top of his podcast and impending marriage to Taylor Swift, we could see Kelce get more movie roles and a gig as an analyst on television, among other things.

When Kelce makes his decision remains to be seen, but he figures to have plenty of time with the NFL season still going thanks to the playoffs that start this week.
