Despite the team being 0-2 to start the season, there is plenty of news going on with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Sparks fly in Kansas City

Taylor Swift just became the star of a cocktail that’s stealing the spotlight at Travis Kelce’s brand-new restaurant. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end teamed up with Patrick Mahomes to open 1587 Steakhouse inside the Loews Hotel downtown, and one drink on the menu is already generating major buzz.

A fiery nod to Swift

The cocktail, named “The Alchemy,” takes its title from Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department album. But it’s not just the name that has fans talking—the presentation includes steel wool lit at the table, creating a shower of sparks before the first sip.

The drink mixes citrus vodka, berry blends, curacao, oolong, and a lemon twist, creating a bold flavor with a performance-worthy finish.

Early reviews

People’s Julie Jordan called it “an amazing presentation” and “delicious,” while The Kansas City Star’s Jenna Thompson said the fiery delivery felt like a wink to Swift’s fans.

The bigger picture

“The Alchemy” is part of a themed cocktail list that also features drinks dedicated to Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, as well as Kelce himself. With the official grand opening set for Wednesday, the Swift-inspired drink is already positioning 1587 Steakhouse as Kansas City’s next destination dining spot.
