Patrick Mahomes injury update: Latest news on Chiefs QB's status in Week 15 game image

The Kansas City Chiefs have an injury concern with quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the second half of the Week 15 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Mahomes got shaken up in the fourth quarter and was clutching at his leg after going down following a play.

He was grabbing at his left knee and was in obvious pain.

He has now been replaced by backup quarterback Gardner Minshew, so for now it doesn't look like Mahomes is coming back into the game.

UPDATE: Mahomes needed assistance to get back to the locker room and did not return to the game, as expected.

Here's video of the play in which Mahomes got hurt. You can clearly see his left knee buckle on the play, which is a terrible sign.

We can only hope Mahomes has avoided something catastrophic, but right now it looks as though that is the case.

UPDATE: Mahomes was able to limp off the field, but he is not getting back into the game for now. The fact he was able to limp off is a good sign he might have avoided something catastrophic, but we can't say for sure.

Mahomes is getting checked out on the sideline. Still no update from the team, but we would expect one shortly.
