The Kansas City Chiefs' 23-20 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts was great for Chiefs Kingdom for a host of reasons, but perhaps the best one was the performance of running back Kareem Hunt.

Having not had more than 13 attempts in a game this season, the Chiefs decided to climb aboard Kareem's back. He would churn out 104 yards from a whopping career-high 30 attempts as the Colts simply were beaten into submission.

The Chiefs ran a total of 91 plays, with 30 of them coming from Hunt as the offense was rolling late in the fourth quarter and overtime. His performance leaves Patrick Mahomes with one overriding thought about Kareem.

“He's a warrior,” Mahomes said. “He truly is.

"I've known that since the day I met him, and I thought it was awesome to see how he just responded over and over again. If a run got stuffed, the next run he'd get five, six yards, battle through tackles, break tackles and then the offensive line took it upon themselves to get that push that we needed.

"That speaks a ton to the people that we have up front, and then him and the way he's able to run the football.”

Can Hunt back it up vs. Cowboys on Thanksgiving?

After running the ball 30 times, the recovery will be key for Hunt. However, given that the Chiefs will have to fly to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in just a couple of days, there isn't much time to get fully healthy.

Can we expect Hunt to have 30 attempts again? I doubt it, and given how well the Cowboys are stopping the run in the past two weeks, this might be an air-raid offense that will be needed from Mahomes and Co.

But don't discount the Chiefs still leaning a little on Hunt against the Cowboys, just to make sure they aren't one-dimensional at AT&T Stadium. But Kareem being the "warrior" he is, if the Chiefs, on a short week, ask him to have another 30 carries, I'd imagine he would be just fine doing that.
