The Kansas City Chiefs are starting the new NFL season in a place they never have before: Sao Paulo, Brazil.

That didn't stop superstar tight end Travis Kelce from getting asked the same kind of questions in his press conference the day before the game.

Kelce was asked what it feels like to be entering the last season of his current contract. Such a reality has invited retirement speculation.

“Man, It’s the last one on the contract right now but I’ll tell you what; I’m feeling young and like I’m ready to rock baby," Kelce told reporters in Brazil on Thursday.

It's hard to read whether that means the newly engaged man is ready to rock for one final season, or if he's feeling like he's got a bunch more in him.

He's entering his 13th NFL season and has a case as the greatest tight end in NFL history.

Kelce has made 1,004 career catches for 12,151 yards and 77 touchdowns in the regular season.

He also has more catches in the playoffs than any player in NFL history, with 178. They've resulted in another 2,078 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Kelce is coming off a 2024 season that ended in a disappointing Super Bowl loss to the Eagles.

In the regular season, he went for 97 catches, 823 yards and three scores.

It was his lowest yardage total since his rookie season in 2013, along with his lowest yards per catch.

Kelce has suggested he wants to bounce back this season, and the Chiefs will surely try to involve him early and often on Friday night in Brazil against a familiar foe, AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers.

With Rashee Rice suspended for six games, Kansas City will really need Kelce to do his usual sterling work in the middle of the field, finding pockets to get open.

He'll worry about next year later. Right now, Kelce is ready to rock.
