Chiefs' Travis Kelce needs 57 yards to make NFL history before potential retirement image

If this is going to be it for Travis Kelce, he better get to work.

The legendary Kansas City Chiefs tight end could be retiring when this season concludes. He's got a chance to move into an impressive place in NFL history before he does.

Kelce needs 57 yards to pass Jason Witten and be second all-time in receiving yards by a tight end.

Kelce enters Sunday's game with 12,990 yards (on 1,077 catches with 82 TDs).

Witten is in second place currently at 13,046 yards (on 1,228 catches with 74 TDs).

First place Tony Gonzalez is likely out of reach even if Kelce keeps playing. He's at 15,127 yards (on 1,325 catches with 111 TDs).

The most notable thing here, though, is games played.

Tony G played in 270 games. Witten played in 271.

Kelce has played just 191. His cards per game is at a pace much better than either Gonzalez or Witten.

The Chiefs don't have a lot to play for in Week 18, and Chris Oladokun will be at the QB helm again.

The least they can do is get Kelce past Witten on this all-time leaderboard to continue making Kelce's case as one of the best tight ends ever.
