Chiefs' Travis Kelce answers retirement questions with 'unique' answer image

The Kansas City Chiefs are officially eliminated from the playoffs, which means they know when this season ends.

Three more games, and that's it. And it means for the next three weeks, legendary tight end Travis Kelce will be asked about retirement.

No one knows if the 36-year old TE plans to come back or not. Kelce hasn't let on one way or the other.

There's plenty of speculation, of course, but nothing concrete.

Kelce is getting married in June to Taylor Swift, and on the field, he's certainly not the same player he once was.

This is how he answered on Friday when asked:

“I’d rather keep the focus on this team, right now. All the conversations I have with the team moving forward will be with them. It’s a unique time in my life. I’ve got three games left & I know when the season ends."

If Kelce chooses to come back, there's also added uncertainty given that Patrick Mahomes just tore his ACL and is no guarantee to be ready to go in the first few weeks of the 2026 season.

Kelce can play free and easy in these final three games of the season. He'll be catching passes from Gardner Minshew and not Mahomes, but it'll feel like most of the pressure is off.

Either Kelce will be trying to close out his career with a smile, or he'll be trying to build some momentum into the offseason to potentially play again.

We may not know Kelce's true fate for months. For now, all that football fans can do is speculate.
