The Chiefs, shortly after defeating the Colts, have reportedly signed former Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce, according to Jordan Schultz, to bolster their running back corps with added experience.

Given Kareem Hunt's performance of 104 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries, and with Isiah Pacheco remaining sidelined, it's evident the Chiefs believe additional support is necessary for Patrick Mahomes and the offense during the latter half of the season.

Does the addition of Pierce to the Chiefs raise concerns for Pacheco?

Given Hunt's substantial workload and Pacheco's absence, coupled with Elijah Mitchell's presence on the roster, the Chiefs' acquisition of Pierce represents a noteworthy strategic move.

It's true, considering the Chiefs' ground attack against the Colts, Hunt receiving 30 carries isn't a viable long-term strategy, particularly for a team aiming for a winning streak and, hopefully, future playoff games.

The exact role Pierce will play remains uncertain, but the Chiefs evidently recognized a need to bolster their running back corps, acquiring a player in his fourth year who also possesses considerable special teams acumen.
