The Kansas City Chiefs fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-28 to drop to 2-3 on the season after many thought Patrick Mahomes and Co. were "back" after their win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Self-inflicted wounds were the theme of the night, and Mahomes' interception proved to be the big turning point. Driving down into the Jaguars' territory, Mahomes was picked off by linebacker Devin Lloyd at the three-yard line, which was bad as points were taken off the board, but that wasn't the end of it.
Lloyd took it back 99 yards for a touchdown as the Jaguars were then up 21-14.
But what happened on the play?
“They honestly just got me with the coverage that they played,” Mahomes said. “They schemed themselves, and he popped right underneath where I was throwing the ball, and so it was a great call by them defensively. Obviously, a great play by zero getting the pick, and then I got to find a way to tackle him or slow him down after he gets the interception."

Chiefs masters of own downfall
A whopping 13 penalties from the Chiefs is nearly unheard of in the Andy Reid era, and in fact, in Kansas City's last two games, it had a combined 13 penalties.
Plus, Mahomes' interception, which felt like it tilted the scales in Jacksonville's favor, and the Chiefs were playing catch-up from there.
Now at 2-3, the Chiefs, while still in a decent position in terms of the AFC West, must start banking wins, and they are luckily, the Los Angeles Chargers lost. However, the Denver Broncos are now at 3-2 after their win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
So, Kansas City has to start winning games and avoid self-inflicted wounds, which plagued them against the Jaguars.
