The Kansas City Chiefs are closing in on a big change.

They might enter the 2026 NFL season with a new offensive coordinator. Matt Nagy could be out. Eric Bieniemy could be back.

None of that is for certain yet. But according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Nagy's expiring contract may seem him leave town in favor of Bieniemy, who is currently the Chicago Bears' RB coach.

Bieniemy has been the Chiefs' offensive coordinator before, from 2018-2022.

In those seasons, the Chiefs ranks in the NFL in points were: 2, 4, 6, 5, 4. That means that every season Bieniemy was the OC, Kansas City scored at least the sixth-most points in the NFL.

Nagy's points ranks in 2023, 2024 and 2025: 6, 11, 12.

Not incredibly worse, but definitely worse.

Obviously, the personnel hasn't always been the same. Nagy surely would've loved an in-his-prime Tyreek Hill.

But Bieniemy was highly thought of for most of his time with the Chiefs. He'd surely be welcomed back with open arms.
