The Kansas City Chiefs could be getting some reinforcements in the backfield for their Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. Running back Isiah Pacheco is targeting a return against the Cowboys, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Pacheco hasn’t played in a game since Oct. 27 when he suffered a right knee injury against the Washington Commanders. He's missed three straight games since. Prior to his injury, Pacheco had carried the ball 78 times for 329 yards and a touchdown on the season.
Veteran back Kareem Hunt has carried a heavy load in Pacheco’s absence. He’s compiled 457 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the season. When Pacheco returns, the two will likely share the workload for Kansas City. This might not be ideal for fantasy owners of either guy, but it could work to keep them both fresher down the stretch of the season.
Kansas City also recently added running back Dameon Pierce to the practice squad. He could further help to bolster the backfield.
The Chiefs will be looking for a second consecutive victory in Dallas on Turkey Day. They kept their playoff hopes alive with a 23-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12, and they'll need another win to keep pace with the other contenders in the conference.
After the game in Dallas, the Chiefs will have two consecutive home games against the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers.
