The Kansas City Chiefs, over the past half-decade or so, have been the top dogs in the NFL, and such has been their aura of invincibility that other teams often change the way they play due to having to face Patrick Mahomes.

Knowing that more often than not, in a close game, if the ball goes back to No. 15, that signals the end of the game due to Patrick's ability to put the ball in the endzone to win games consistently.

But it appears that mindset has now transferred to another team. Yeah, you read that right.

And that's not me saying it...that's head coach Andy Reid.

“Obviously have to improve, and that's our focus,” Reid said. “We've got to detail our work. It's my responsibility. I take responsibility for that and for this game with the aggressiveness as far as the fourth downs go. I felt going into this game because they stay aggressive on fourth down that you've got to match that to some extent within reason.”

Hold up. So the Chiefs changed how they play to combat the Eagles' aggressiveness on fourth down? Oh, how times change, and it goes to show how fearful teams are now of Philadelphia, as they used to be against the Chiefs.

Chiefs no longer the NFL top dog?

We are two games into the season, and considering the Chiefs are 0-2, and Reid has just stated that the offense has changed the way it approaches the game due to how the Eagles play, that suggests Kansas City might not think it is the dominant power it once was.

Of course, being aggressive on fourth down might just be the cost of doing business against the Eagles, and in the 20-17 loss, it came back to bite Kansas City.

Now, the Chiefs have to pick themselves up off the canvas and face a plucky New York Giants team that put on an offensive clinic against the Dallas Cowboys.

Kansas City wouldn't want to lose that, because while the skeptics are circling now, we can only imagine the blowback if the Chiefs fall to 0-3.
