Jags' QB play has been uneven, but their playoff push is very real image

The Jaguars are firmly in the playoff hunt at 7–4, and they’ve done it while riding the highs and lows of Trevor Lawrence’s up-and-down season.

Lawrence leads the league with 14 turnovers, yet Jacksonville keeps finding ways to win — even when the mistakes pile up.

Last week showed the full Trevor Lawrence experience. He turned the ball over four times against Arizona, but the Jaguars still snuck out a 27–24 overtime win. After the game, Lawrence didn’t dodge responsibility.

"We had four turnovers and they were all on me, so I own that, and I've got to do my job and take care of the ball and not put our defense in tough spots," Lawrence said, per ESPN. "Totally get that, but I'm never going to play scared. I'm going to continue to let it rip, and I think that's why we have a chance at the end of the day — [it's] because you keep playing. So, never going to apologize for that. But I will say I cannot turn the ball over four times."

Despite the miscues, Jacksonville sits just one game behind the 8–3 Colts in the AFC South. The stretch run won’t be easy: Titans this Sunday, then home against the Colts and Jets, followed by road trips to Denver and Indy, before finishing the season back home against Tennessee.

Lawrence’s season numbers reflect the inconsistency — 14 touchdown passes, 11 interceptions, and a 79.4 passer rating, the second-worst among qualifying quarterbacks (only Titans rookie Cam Ward ranks behind him). Still, the Jaguars are winning the games they need to win.

The turnovers are real, the concerns are valid, but so is the Jaguars’ ability to overcome them. If Lawrence can tighten things up without losing his aggressiveness, Jacksonville won’t just make the playoffs — they could be a dangerous draw once they get there. On the flipside, the postseason is the place where teams can't afford costly mistakes, as there are no do overs. We'll see how Lawrence's roller coaster season pans out in the coming weeks.
