Jaguars WR depth chart: What Travis Hunter injury means for Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr. as Trevor Lawrence's weapons image

The Jacksonville Jaguars have some big names at wide receiver, especially after their trade deadline acquisitions. But with star rookie Travis Hunter reportedly out for the season, the position group becomes even more critical for Jacksonville’s playoff push.

At the trade deadline, the Jaguars landed WR Jakobi Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for fourth- and sixth-round picks. The move came less than a week after Hunter suffered a practice injury that led to his placement on injured reserve. Initially, there was hope he could return after the four-game minimum.

Instead, Hunter has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025 season following LCL surgery, per Ian Rapoport, making Meyers an even more important addition for Jacksonville.

Here’s a look at the Jaguars’ wide receiver depth chart with Hunter out for the year and Meyers now in the fold.

Hunter’s injury may have been a precursor to the Meyers trade, as Jacksonville unexpectedly lost its rookie indefinitely in Week 9. Hunter had spent much of his time on offense in the slot, and Meyers will likely fill that role while Hunter remains sidelined for the rest of 2025.

Thomas Jr. Remains the team’s top receiver, though he’s been banged up and underwhelming this season. With 420 receiving yards, the second-year wideout has struggled to match the high bar he set during his rookie 2024 campaign through eight appearances.

Brown and Washington have both been solid, combining for 549 receiving yards. Washington added a return and receiving touchdown in Week 10, but neither offers the upside Meyers brings. His addition should push Washington and Brown back into their more natural roles as the third and fourth receivers — where they’d spent most of the season before Hunter’s injury.

In his Jaguars debut, Meyers caught three passes for 41 yards in a loss, but expectations are that he’ll become more of a focal point as he adjusts to the new offense. With Hunter out for the rest of the year, Meyers’ presence becomes critical.

Veteran Tim Patrick mostly provides depth and hasn’t offered much production this season, with just 63 yards on four catches. Austin Trammell, a fourth-year player, has only eight career receptions and has appeared in two games this year, while Quintez Cephus is out for the season after a training camp injury.

Jacksonville will be hoping Thomas can rediscover his 2024 form in Hunter’s absence, while also counting on Meyers to make an impact down the stretch.
