Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence reveals why he likes throwing to Jakobi Meyers more than Brian Thomas Jr. image

Sometimes, the words match the stats.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence has said a bunch of good things about his new wide receiver, Jakobi Meyers. And he's thrown to him a lot more in recent weeks than Brian Thomas Jr., too.

This is what Lawrence said about Meyers that tells part of the story:

"I like throwing to him. He's just an easy guy to throw to from a quarterback perspective. It's kind of hard to describe sometimes, just the way he moves, it seems very clear what he is going to do. So, that's something I really like."

Meyers has a team-high 21 targets since he was acquired. He has caught 18 of those targets, too.

Early in the season, Lawrence dealt with his receivers dropping a lot of passes.

But the more he throws to Meyers, the more the football gets caught.

Thomas returned from injury in Week 13 and had just three targets, catching two.

The Lawrence-Meyers connection is blossoming at a crucial time. This weekend, the Jaguars take on the Colts.

They each enter the game at 8-4. Whoever wins goes alone atop the AFC South.

If Meyers keeps getting open and catching the ball from Lawrence, it'll go a long way toward the Jags unexpectedly having a division lead this late in the season.
