The Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence problem is really a gigantic wide receivers issue image

Trevor Lawrence hasn't had the start to the season he would've wanted.

Except it's not all the fault of the Jacksonville Jaguars' quarterback. His wide receivers have let him down in a brutal way.

A couple stats courtesy of guru Warren Sharp really sum it up:

"Out of 270 qualifying QBs since 2020, Jaguars receivers through Week 3 have: No. 1 highest drop rate, No. 1 highest rate of total receiver error. 32% of Lawrence incompletions are on his receivers!"

Oof.

Lawrence so far this season is 63-for-113 (55.8%) for 671 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions.

He's thrown 50 incompletions. If a third of those, essentially, are his receivers' fault, he's really been close to a 70% passer.

Of course, every QB has receivers mess up now and again. It's just happening at a historic rate in Jacksonville.

Brian Thomas Jr. has been a major disappointment so far, aside from a hugely clutch play in the closing stages Sunday against the Texans.

Travis Hunter has needed to play more defense due to injury, and it has limited his offensive contributions.

But really, there are only so far that excuses can fly in the NFL.

The Jags need Lawrence and his receivers to all be better. They're 2-1 despite the struggles. If they can start clicking, good things can happen.
