Tyler Warren gets $21 million contract update after being drafted by Colts image

The Indianapolis Colts landed a prospect they've been linked to since the start of the offseason, grabbing Penn State tight end Tyler Warren with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

While it wasn't clear whether the Colts would be able to land the First-Team All-American, especially after the Chicago Bears took Colston Loveland at No. 10, the patience from general manager Chris Ballard paid off.

When it comes to his rookie deal, Sportac revealed that Warren will get a fully guaranteed four-year, $20.9 million contract. He'll also receive a $11.8 million signing bonus, and the deal includes a fifth-year option for 2029.

Warren is considered one of the top overall prospects in the class. Though he's an older player entering the league, his 2024 season, in which he earned the John Mackey Award, was one of the best in recent memory for a tight end prospect.

Here's what Dane Brugler wrote about Warren in his scouting report from The Athletic draft guide:

"Overall, Warren still has developing to do as a route runner and blocker, but he is an agile-footed big man who naturally tracks the football with dependable hands and a hunger to create after the catch. He projects as a rookie NFL starter with traditional qualities, as well as the schematic versatility to be a multi-tool weapon for a play caller."

The Colts desperately needed to upgrade the tight end position and regardless of who wins the battle between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones, they will have a brand new weapon to target.
