The hits just keep on coming for the Indianapolis Colts.
After losing cornerback Sauce Gardner to a multi-week injury and quarterback Daniel Jones to a season-ending injury, another key player is set to miss time.
According to the team, cornerback Charvarius Ward has been placed on injured reserve due to a concussion, which means he'll miss at least four games.
Ward has already missed time due to a concussion this season after he spent a stint on injured reserve from Week 7 through Week 11 before returning in Week 12.
This will be Ward's third trip to the concussion protocol in total in 2025.
Ward sustained the previous concussion after a freak pre-game accident in Week 6, when he accidentally collided with tight end Drew Ogletree during warm-ups.
Given the fact that this is his second injured reserve stint because of a concussion this season, one has to wonder if he'll be able to make it back at all in 2025.
For Ward to even have a chance to return this season, the Colts have got to make the playoffs, as the four-week IR stay means the earliest he can return is in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
Indianapolis' season is in dire straits after losing four of five, and with Jones' injury, as the Colts have fallen out of a playoff spot and are currently sitting in third place in the AFC South behind the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars.
The signing of Rivers gives the Colts some hope, and Indy is sitting in the No. 8 spot in the wild-card standings, so getting to the postseason certainly isn't impossible.
But not having Ward and Gardner on the field is only going to make their steep climb even more difficult.
