Philip Rivers is retiring.

Again.

The Indianapolis Colts' 44-year old QB returned after nearly five years from the NFL to try and rescue Indy's season.

Rivers didn't play poorly, but the Colts couldn't make it to the playoffs.

And now, Rivers is heading back to retirement, likely for good.

He announced his decision in an appearance on Kay Adams' show on Wednesday:

Rivers played three games, all losses, but performed admirably.

His lines in those three contests:

  • 18-27, 120 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
  • 23-35, 277 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
  • 17-30, 147 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

If Rivers is done for good, he'll finish his career with 63,984 passing yards and 425 touchdowns.

Those both rank in the top-10 all time.

Rivers impressed most people around football with how he still was able to get the job done even after so much time away and at such an advanced age.

Most will look back on this Rivers cameo quite fondly, including the 44-year old QB himself.
