The Indianapolis Colts officially have a new old quarterback.
Old both in age, 44, and in the fact that Philip Rivers is running it back with the Colts after previously concluding his NFL career with them in the playoffs on Jan. 9, 2021.
The Colts made the news official on Wednesday morning, announcing they've signed Rivers to the practice squad.
Their social media team then shared this phrase on X:
nunc coepi.

That phrase translates as, "Now I begin" or "Begin again."
Fans are wondering if Rivers will start this week, and while a post by the social team doesn't reveal anything for sure, more and more signs point toward it.
The Colts also changed their practice schedule for the week, taking out a walkthrough and adding in a full practice. That could suggest they want to get Rivers up to speed in a hurry.
The high school team that Rivers coached, with his son Gunnar at QB, actually ran the same system the Colts do. He should be up to speed.

It's all about Indianapolis deciding whether a dinged-up Riley Leonard, a practice squad Brett Rypien or a 44-year old Rivers is the right choice to try to salvage their season at quarterback.
They play in the unforgiving road environment in Seattle on Sunday. It might just be Rivers who gets the football.
