Andrew Luck reveals Colts interest in bringing him back from retirement image

The Indianapolis Colts had to dig deep to find their quarterback for these final few weeks of the season, 44-year old Philip Rivers.

Rivers started for the Colts in the 2020 season, too. He's now been on the wheel twice since Andrew Luck's shock retirement stunned the Colts on the eve of the 2019 season.

These days, Luck is the general manager of the football program at his alma mater, Stanford.

He's 36 years old, a youngster relative to Rivers.

But in an appearance on The Jim Rome Show, Luck says the Colts never called. And if they had, he wouldn't have been interested.

"I had zero chances to say no," Luck said. "I'm where I'm supposed to be. I've said this before."

Luck did enjoy watching Rivers play for the Colts on Sunday against the Seahawks.

"It's amazing watching Philip," Luck said. "... It's incredible. I do stand in awe of Philip. It was a great game, as well, unbelievable finish."

If you go back a decade, the Colts would've hoped Luck was still their starting quarterback in 2025, potentially with a ring or two on his hand.

Instead, it's been a long time now since Luck left the NFL. The Colts still haven't really found any quarterback stability.

Even when it seemed they had, with Daniel Jones this season, he broke a bone in his leg and then tore his Achilles.

Rivers will do what he can to save the Colts' season. Luck, from afar, will simply watch.
