The Houston Texans were already working with a suspect wide receivers room, but now that room is in even worse shape thanks to an injury to Nico Collins.
Collins suffered a concussion during the Week 7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks after hitting his head on the turf after trying to reel in a pass.
Collins wasn't able to practice at all this week before being ruled out on Friday, so he was never close to playing in Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers.
But what does that tell us about his ability to play in Week 9? Here's what we know.
Will Nico Collins return in Week 9?
It's hard to say for sure if Collins will, as depending on the severity of a concussion, a player can miss anywhere from one to multiple games.
Given the fact that Collins didn't practice at all this week, it stands to reason he's in danger of missing a second game, although that hasn't been confirmed.
We will know more on Wednesday afternoon, when the Texans release their first injury report ahead of the Week 9 game against the Denver Broncos. Head coach DeMeco Ryans is likely to provide an update on Monday, also.
With Christian Kirk (hamstring) also sidelined due to injury, the Texans have a precarious situation at wide receiver.
The team is left with inexperienced and unproven receivers for quarterback C.J. Stroud with a group that includes Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins, with the latter two being rookies.
We would expect Stroud to lean heavily on tight end Dalton Schultz as a result.
