The mysterious absence of Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon extends into yet another week.

Mixon has been on the non-football injury list since the offseason with a foot issue, the details of which remain unknown. The only thing we do know is that Mixon suffered the injury in a non-football-related activity, as the list he's on suggests.

Considering Mixon hasn't played at all this season, it's clearly a serious injury that is now threatening his entire 2025 campaign.

Here's the latest update on Mixon's status.

Will Joe Mixon play this season?

Mixon's status for the remainder of the 2025 campaign is still unknown, but it certainly isn't looking good for him.

Texans general manager Nick Caserio said early last month that more would be known about Mixon's situation in three to four weeks.

"He's making progress, so we won't put a particular timetable on it, so I think over the next few three or four weeks, we'll probably get a little more information here, kind of see how he's progressing," the Texans GM explained on Oct. 7.

"Once we kind of get to that period, probably have a better sense of which way it's going to go for the duration of the year."

Well, so much for that. It has now been over one month since Caserio made that comment and we still don't have an update.

Aaron Wilson of Click2Houston.com reported that Mixon's injury is "tough" and "complicated" and the veteran running back missing the entire season is a real possibility.

Take this for what it's worth, but Mixon was recently spotted out at a private event with Texans wide receiver Tank Dell.

Does that mean anything? Probably not, but it's nice to see Joe's face after he has been missing for so long.

At this point, with no recent update, we have to continue to believe that Mixon won't take the field in 2025.
